Registry

Westernfield Holdings works with  Scheme Administrator which maintains a registry to support the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Scheme (GGAS). The registry provides details of accredited abatement certificate providers and the ownership and status of abatement certificates at any point in time.

Westernfield Holdings is one of the only companies that are Abatement certificate providers. Members of the public can register either as an organization or as an individual, to own certificates. The registry allows: abatement certificate providers to register certificates online, based on their conditions of accreditation; and benchmark participants to surrender certificates to meet their compliance obligations.

There is no charge for the transfer of certificates on the registry. There is, however, a $0.15 charge imposed on the registration of each abatement certificate at the time of creation, you must pay prior to the abatement certificate being released for transfer or surrender. This charge is to cover the cost of establishing, operating and maintaining the registry over the life of GGAS, as well as to partially fund some of the activities of the Scheme Administrator.

There is no limit on the number of certificates that can be held in an account, however self registered users must provide identification documentation if a transfer of certificates would result in the ownership of more than 500 certificates.

The registry is not for trading, as trading of abatement certificates is expected to occur outside of the registry. Where such a trade has occurred, whether bilaterally, through brokers or through other trading platforms, the change in ownership of those certificates is recorded on the registry.
